@SHIMMERSONTHEBEACH

The wind in our hair, the sand in our feet – there’s nothing quite like dining al fresco on the beach in Dubai. And on a cool January afternoon (or evening), it doesn’t get more idyllic than that. While there are more beachside eateries in Dubai than we can count, our team has scoured the city to bring to you the best ones. Savoir Flair takes you through ten exceptional restaurants that check all the right boxes.

Beach Bar & Grill

Located at One and Only, Royal Mirage, Beach Bar & Grill redefines al fresco dining. With timber decks looking out to the sea and a sandy beach just a few steps away, the vibe here is as good as the food. Renowned chef Mauro Colagreco serves up authentic South American cuisine while you enjoy the spectacular view of the beach.

Caña by Tamoka

Say ‘Hola!’ to Dubai’s newest beachside destination, perfect for an irresistibly lazy lounge day or a sunset moment. Drift off to the sounds of the ocean, while feasting on delicious Latin American fare with a Caribbean twist. We recommend sharing small plates of ‘Vuelve a la Vida’, ‘Papas Fritas’, and a seasonal selection of tropical fruits. A relaxing afternoon here is best enjoyed sipping the house’s signature ‘South of the Island’ mocktail, a tasty blend of mint, passion fruit, strawberry, lemon, cloudy orange juice, and pink Everleaf Mountain.

DRIFT Beach

Boasting splendid views of the Marina skyline and pristine white sands, DRIFT Beach is one of the most popular beachfront hotspots in the city. Located at the One & Only Royal Mirage, this place can get really busy on the weekend, so it’s best to make a reservation if you want to dine here. It’s actually really great during the weekdays, too – we recommend getting a water-facing table and enjoying a sunset while eating their outstanding club sandwich and a truffle pizza. A heads up, they have separate menus for the pool bar and the main restaurant.

Eunoia By Carine

Situated in Hyatt Centric Jumeirah Dubai and just opposite the hustle and bustle of La Mer, Eunoia by Carine is another beachside favorite that has us counting down the minutes until we can go back. It’s the sister to Carine in Emirates Hills and yet-another brainchild of one of Dubai’s most beloved chefs, Izu Ani, Eunoia takes us on a Mediterranean culinary journey that delights our taste buds course after unbelievable course. Derived from the Greek word “beautiful thinking,” guests are invited to share everything that comes to the table because it means you get a chance to experience more flavors. And quite frankly, the large portions are simply too big for one person. We are glad we had a vegetarian in our midst, or we might have missed out on one of the best dishes of the meal, the zingy carrot salad, and we certainly wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to try that sea bass carpaccio with a tangy passion fruit dressing again. Another must-order next time you visit is the lobster linguini, followed by the braised beef cheek so tender, you can slice it with a spoon. Of course, if you don’t order the creamy ‘Tres Leches À La Pistache’ or the delectable ‘Choux à La Crème Au Chocolate Et Noisette’ then you really haven’t had the whole experience. We thought we were full until we were presented with ‘Heaven on a Plate,’ and that was the end of that.

February 30

February 30, West Beach’s latest go-to spot, serves a delicious mix of Mediterranean and Japanese favorites such as sushi, fresh seafood, tacos, and pasta. We particularly enjoyed the soft shell crab uramaki – which was an interesting mix of crunchy and tender textures – as well as the sweet and savory seafood linguine. The dessert options were equally imaginative — ranging from mango passion fruit soufflé to mochi ice creams. The interiors are striking, but it’s the beachfront space – dotted with sun loungers, adorable candy striped cushions, and earthy woven parasols – that holds the best seats in the house. With sand between your toes and your favorite drink in hand, you will inevitably step into a new reality and get lost in your own rhythm.

Koko Bay

If there was an award for the most photogenic restaurant in the city, Koko Bay at West Palm Beach would win it. This seaside eatery is brimming with Bohemian-chic aesthetics, cozy interiors, and welcoming vibes. Spacious and filled with natural light, the venue offers guests a pleasurable dining experience and plenty of stunning backdrops for the ‘gram. Koko Bay’s menu showcases an eclectic mix of South East Asian, Japanese, and Chinese cuisines, with grilled-meat specialities being the mainstays. While the wood-fired robata grills here are stuff of legends, there are also plenty of fresh seafood dishes and fantastic starters to try. We highly recommend the salmon tartare, the ‘Baked Alaskan Black Cod’, and the ‘Tropical Taco Pizza’ from the restaurant’s newly launched menu. If you’re craving for something delicately sweet, the ‘Burnt Basque Cheesecake’ and ‘Tres Leches Cake’ will surely deliver that delightful and zesty punch. Add to that, the restaurant is also kid-friendly and dog-friendly, which makes it the idyllic spot to enjoy a day of sunshine, sea breeze, and delicious meals with your favorite companions right by your side.

Myrra by OPA

Picture this: a big table with friends and family, toes in the sand while you eat and laugh, relaxing on a daybed after taking a dip, and chilling the afternoon away. This is Myrra by OPA. Located at Club Vista Mare on the Palm, the Greek/Spanish restaurant plays twists on traditional foods, like a paella made with a thin Greek pasta rather than rice, or a mixed grill worthy of any Middle Eastern table. Beautifully decorated like a Greek island getaway inside, the actual getaway is outside on the terrace and on the beach.

You have the option to wiggle your toes in the sand while you eat, or keep your shoes on on the upper deck, but both locations come with sun, breeze, and a beautiful view of the water. But the best part is that the good times don’t stop when the meal ends. Make your way to the beach loungers by the water, where the friendly staff provide fluffy towels. Go for a dip to cool off, sip a soda while you enjoy the view, and spend the rest of your day remembering exactly why you love living in Dubai.

Nammos

Straight from the sands of Mykonos to Dubai, Nammos at the Four Seasons Resort is a must-visit if you haven’t already done so. With its stylish and luxurious interior, a magnificent view of the skyline and the ocean, and an exquisite Mediterranean menu, Nammos is perfect for a laid-back weekend lunch.

Nikki Beach

Nikki Beach was designed to be a safe place to celebrate life, and everything owner Jack Penrod’s daughter, Nicole, cherished while she was still alive. Like its namesake, Nikki Beach is soft, carefree, friendly, and beautiful with an emphasis on music, fashion, dining, and art. The adult-friendly property boasts a crystal pool right on the beautiful stretch of white sand beaches on an exclusive peninsula in Dubai.

With hints of Miami throughout, Nikki Cafe is a farm-to-table restaurant that brings fresh and delicious food poolside for incredible al fresco bites. It’s a great place to enjoy some ceviche and artisan sushi before cooling off in the pool or going for a swim in the wide open sea. The weekends are lively, and the weekdays are chill, so choose your vibe.

Pierchic

Hands down, one of the most elegant and romantic restaurants in Dubai is Pierchic. Located on a private pier just as its name suggests, this Italian fine-dining hotspot is ocean-front dining at its best. Located at the Jumeirah Al Qasr, guests have to take a buggy to arrive at the restaurant, which is surrounded by water all around. Not only is the view spectacular, but the food is outstanding too. We recommend ordering from Chef Beatrice Segoni‘s special truffle menu if you love truffles. Otherwise, the à la carte menu has everything from Beluga caviar to traditional eggplant Parmesan and lobster ragout risotto.

Rockfish

Fresh seafood, majestic sunsets, and a relaxing atmosphere – Rockfish at Jumeirah Al Naseem checks all the boxes. If you want the best close-up of the Burj Al Arab during sunset, this is your spot. Their brunch menu titled ‘Lazy Lunch’ is an extensive menu with a little bit of everything and is perfect for these winter afternoons. We recommend advanced reservations as this place can get booked out.

Sal

One of the reasons we love Sal at the Burj Al Arab is because we no longer need to choose between lunch and the pool. Their various dining packages give guests the option of using the pool and beach access, which means we can easily spend an entire day there. In this gorgeous weather, we want nothing more! This hip restaurant boasts not only beautiful interiors, but also a stunning infinity pool and splendid ocean views. Oh, and the food is excellent.

Sea Fu

If you’re looking for some fantastic Asian food by the beach, then Sea Fu at the Four Seasons in Jumeirah will certainly not disappoint. Here, the views are unparalleled, the sushi is fresh as ever, and the vibe is cool. Sit by the beach and dine on some excellent Asian food while enjoying the lovely ocean view. We highly recommend ‘Royal Sushi Platter’, which comes with truffle foie grass rolls, and ‘Otoro Nigiri with Caviar’. For the main course, you can’t go wrong with their ‘Black Cod’ it is outstanding.

Shimmers on the Beach

Located at the Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, Shimmers on the Beach is literally on the beach, just like its name suggests. A perfect place to spend an idyllic day with the family, the restaurant boasts unparalleled views of the iconic Burj al Arab and the ocean. This beachside gem serves up exquisite Mediterranean cuisine, and their octopus salad and truffle potatoes are a must-try. They even have a plant-based moussaka, which is excellent. Although, please note that children under 12 are not allowed after 7 pm, and they do have an AED 250 cover charge which is redeemable in food. Advanced reservations are encouraged as it gets fully booked on weekends.

The Bay

Overlooking the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf, The Bay at the Mandarin Oriental in Jumeirah is a beachside brasserie offering the best in Mediterranean cuisine. This cozy spot is all about relaxed dining in an open and airy setting. Almost everything on their menu is excellent, especially their gourmet pizzas, which are made from dough that goes through a 36-hour fermentation.

Twiggy

We would be remiss if we did not include this one, especially since its greatest draw is, in fact, its unbeatable al fresco dining. Twiggy is situated on the Dubai Creek Harbor, with arguably one of the best views of the entire Dubai skyline. The upstairs patio is chic, modern, and trendy, and boasts a sophisticated atmosphere, fresh breezes, and unbeatable views. However, the pièce de resistance is the lagoon-style pool downstairs, for all the adult guests to enjoy, and firmly cements it as one of our favorite spots for literally any day of the week. One-hundred meters of infinity pool, soft sand on the ‘shore’, and luxurious cabanas mean you don’t need to go all the way to the beach to experience Dubai’s best while dining on the finest cuisine.

Opt for the tomato gazpacho or the sea bass carpaccio with black truffle to hit the spot on a sunny day. The linguine with zucchini pesto and pine seeds is also a favorite, as well as the jumbo prawns and the sea bass fillet with truffle fries and sauteed broccolini on the side. Honestly, if we could catch every sunset at Twiggy, we just might.
