Living in Dubai means ticking things off an ever-expanding bucket list of things to do, places to visit, and hotels to stay in. The tourist capital of the UAE, Dubai is home to some uber-luxe hotels that promise a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. With the weather finally favorable, the staycation season in the UAE is in full swing.
Whether you’re booked in at the magnificent property next door or are flocking to a neighboring emirate for a night or two, packing for a staycation is always tricky. You don’t want to be checking in with an embarrassingly big suitcase full of stuff you won’t end up using, but at the same time, you also don’t want to forget your essentials. To avoid a last-minute evaluation of what to pack and what not to, we’ve put together a checklist for staycation packing.

The spacious swimming pools and pristine private beaches are the crowning jewels of the UAE resorts. While it’s unlikely for anyone to leave their bathing suit behind on a staycation, it’s always best to double check.
Your skin will thank you for this one – trust us. Skipping on hydration even for a single day in the dry desert winter can leave your skin feeling parched and flaky. Grab your favorite moisturizer and keep applying generous dollops throughout your staycation, especially after a sun-soaking session.
Whether it’s for a sunset stroll by the ocean or a sumptuous breakfast buffet, a sundress always comes in handy.
Skipping on sunscreen is no less than a skincare crime, particulary when you plan on spending most part of your day on a sun lounger.
Although they take up a relatively small part of our wardrobes – and can be easily left behind – accessories hold the distinct power of making or breaking a look. Depending on the outfits that you’ve packed, make sure to add complementing accessories to your suitcase.
From something as basic as a cleanser to remove your makeup to the whizzy beauty tools that you swear by, your skincare essentials deserve a spot in your staycation luggage.
A Cocktail Dress
After spending most of the year lounging in our pajamas, we only need the slightest reason to take our fancy dresses out for a spin – and dinner reservations at a swanky restaurant totally deserve a good look. Dig out your best cocktail dress – that hasn’t seen the light of day in months – for a night of restaurant hopping on the property. Alternatively, you can pack a slinky slip dress and style it up.
A Light Jacket
Living in the UAE means carrying a light jacket around at all times – you never know when the air conditioning can get too much to bear. With winter nights being graced by cool breezes, it’s always best to have one on you.
A Pair of Heels
Remember that stunning dress you packed? Your dinner look deserves to be adorned with a pair of heels — pack those too.
