In celebration of International Yoga Day, Goodness has rounded up the ten absolute best yoga spots in Dubai, from Downtown to Marina.
Despite its central location in the heart of Dubai Marina, 136.1 is one of the most peaceful places you can imagine, offering a welcome respite from the busy streets below. Specializing in classical yoga, it teams timeless techniques with a state-of-the-art studio that’s flooded with natural light beaming in through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Book in for a traditional Hatha class or try the Power yoga, lyengar yoga, and calming meditation sessions.

Zen Yoga, Dubai’s original yoga and Pilates studio, had over 40,000 visits last year, which says it all. Teaching a wide range of yoga classes – from Hatha to Vinyasa, Ashtanga to Power yoga – that are suitable for all levels, it also offers pre- and post-natal classes, classes just for kids, and mummy-and-baby sessions. Zen Yoga also hosts regular health and wellness workshops with some of the best teachers in town, making it the perfect place to kickstart a healthier way of living.

This cool yoga hangout is one of the hottest spots in which to chant “om…”. The bright and spacious studio feels like it’s straight out of New York, featuring an intimate loft space for smaller sessions and workshops, and a beautiful warehouse room with huge windows that provide a perfect view of the Downtown area, Jumeirah, and the shimmering sea as you practice. Try the candlelit classes for the perfect way to end your day or watch the sunrise over the city with the morning sessions – whatever class you prefer, Urban Yoga has it all.

The perfect place to – literally – hang out, the Mind classes at Define offer a whole new perspective to yoga and, well, your morning view. That’s because you’ll spend most of your time hanging upside down in a yoga sling. Incorporating mat yoga poses along with Aerial yoga and moves with the muscle ball, it’s the ultimate class to stretch, lengthen those muscles, and complement your fitness routine.

Ashtanga Yoga Dubai specializes in – you guessed it – Ashtanga yoga, and it’s the only KPJAYI-authorized yoga school in the UAE to do so. With two locations in town, including a seriously snazzy new studio in The Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City, Ashtanga Yoga Dubai also hosts health retreats around the world in various luxury locations. With both group classes and private sessions on offer, and with expert yogis who know all there is to know about Ashtanga, we guarantee you’ll leave feeling like a new person, both inside and out.

Although Bay Yoga offers an array of classes and yoga styles, the thing it does best is Bikram. The 90-minute sweaty sessions take place in a heated room (the temperature is a rather steamy 40°C) where humidity can reach up to 40 percent – let’s just say there’s no point of investing in a blow-dry before this class. With up to 26 different postures, your entire body will be pushed to the limits as you hold each one in the heat. You’ll definitely leave this one feeling a lot sweatier and a lot more supple.

With three practice rooms inside one large, light-filled space, Voyoga not only boasts some seriously impressive views, but also a seriously impressive class schedule. From Bikram to Vinyasa, Swing to Hatha – no matter which class you book in to, you know that you and your body are in the most expert of hands, thanks to the passionate and professional instructors. Voyoga also hosts international yogis, events, and workshops, and you can try your hand at gong meditation and tribal dance, too.
i-Rise Tower, Barsha Heights

This hippie hotspot in the heart of Jumeirah practically oozes “om…”. Focusing on the spiritual side of well-being, Life’n One is all about yoga – lots of yoga – ranging from classic Hatha and dynamic Vinyasa to Tantra and Kundalini. There is also reiki, holistic life coaching, and chakra-reading sessions to complement your practices, which take place in an array of locations including the garden deck, rooftop, or studios. Then, to (rather deliciously) top it all off, there’s the One Café, a place filled with vegan, raw delights such as veggie burgers, turmeric smoothies, and pecan and cinnamon cookies.

Yoga La Vie
Selecting only the best of the best when it comes to its instructors, Yoga La Vie’s chic and cozy studio on The Palm incorporates an array of wellness-focused fitness sessions to help you look and feel your best. But barre and Pilates aside, the yoga classes are second to none, with both beginner and advanced options on the schedule and everything on offer from Hatha to Restorative, Yin to Vinyasa. A particular favorite is the Aerial yoga class, where girl-about-town Tala Samman is often spotted hanging from the ceiling.

Motion Ladies Fitness
A healthy home away from home, the Motion Ladies Fitness villa is nestled in the quiet streets of Umm Suqeim to make for one of the most peaceful spots to practice in Dubai. The yoga room itself is away from the main house, tucked away in a pretty little green garden – a great spot in which to drink a healthy beverage from the in-house juice bar afterward. Book in for a traditional Hatha class or give Swing yoga and “yogalates” (yoga meets Pilates) a go to mix things up a bit.
