How to Stay Polished and Chic in the Summer Heat Rosemin Manji
9 OPEN GALLERY

A self-described “modern-day luxury multi-tasker”, Rosemin Manji is perpetually the best-dressed woman in the office. Such is the life of the entrepreneur behind luxury consulting firm RR&CO. A typical day in her world, however, is not so typical. “One day I could be consulting with a brand on their buy or edit, working with selected fashion magazines as a contributor, or be in a photoshoot as an ambassador for a brand in the region. The following day I could be organizing a niche event or a designer visit,” she tells Savoir Flair. Her expertise comes as a result of years spent at major labels like Tom Ford; “I learned more from him than I did in university,” Manji gushes.

Her many years in the fashion industry have left her with a style know-how above many in the region and contributed to her deft outfit-crafting skills. She is also wise about navigating the tricky terrain of seasonal workwear; during the hotter months, she changes it up by incorporating brighter colors and prints into her looks, especially in lightweight fabrics that allow plenty of movement. Since she is constantly on the go, she reaches for versatile pieces that put an unexpected twist on classic wardrobe staples and uses glamorous accessories as an aid for transitioning her workwear look to meet evening demands (like one of the many fabulous parties she hosts).

The task of remaining ahead of the style curve while working a demanding schedule is effortless for Manji, whose smart sensibilities inspired us to track down her summer workwear secrets and photograph some of her best office outfits, which you can browse in the gallery above.

How do you manage to stay so chic and graceful when you’re busy, under pressure, and in this weather?
Thank you for the kind words. Staying comfortable is important. To be honest, with this weather, I don’t like anything tight. I favor dresses from Dolce & Gabbana, Osman pieces that I’ve found on MatchesFashion.com, and heels by Nicholas Kirkwood and Aquazzura. I got this great shirtdress by Jonathan Saunders from Per Lei Couture boutique when I was in Doha – I wear it all the time.
When it comes to beauty, I wear a Charlotte Tilbury foundation with SPF and my hair gets curled and blowdried at Vanilla Salon Palm Jumeirah. They use magic hairspray for this heat!

What are your personal rules when dressing for work in summer?
We represent luxury brands, so it’s important to convey a polished and professional look. That means: NO flip-flops, super-short shorts, cleavage, or backless tops. Just because we live in a hot climate does not mean you can come to the office looking like you are going to the beach.

What are your go-to brands when you need to transition from meetings to a night out?
I love Roland Mouret’s classic shift dress and prints by Peter Pilotto. An Alaïa dress paired with a cardigan can take me from day to night, as can a leather skirt or trousers – my favorite ones are from The Row, Vince, and Theory.

Do you have a signature summer office look?
I love white button-down shirts. I wear them simply alone or add a statement necklace. I love Carolina Herrera’s collection, as well as Lanvin and Club Monaco.
