One of the region’s most promising young talents, Reema Al Banna of Reemami, noticed the millennial generation’s obsession with snapping their food before even taking a bite, a nod to the fact that food is as much a visual art form as it is a culinary one. “More than ever before, food has seamlessly become part of our daily lives, both aesthetically and socially. We tend to photograph our food before even tasting it and it’s becoming the norm – this is what I find most fascinating,” she shares. This realization inspired her Resort 2016 collection, and we thought what better way to introduce it to you than by teaming up with the city’s most celebrated foodies. Savoir Flair snapped five tastemakers who have not only influenced Al Banna’s views of food, but the region’s views as well.
Discover some of the standout pieces from the collection and let Al Banna introduce you to the five muses behind the photoshoot.
“I’m a big fan of Dalia and her accomplishments. I would call her superwoman, as she juggles many titles and is an incredible chef. Kitsch Counter is definitely my go-to place when I’m looking for a tasty, healthy meal.”
“Carly is definitely another inspiration – I’ve always wanted to be a fitness trainer (still on my to-do list). Her passion for healthy, clean eating and an active life is really motivating.”
“Deema’s Dulce D is a mouth-watering home bakery. It’s my indulgent go-to whenever I’m allowed a cheat meal. Decadent, but totally worth it!”
“Dana is an old friend of mine. She used to be a girl who never liked cooking and lived on pizza! She got frustrated with her inability to lose weight and so decided to spend a bit of time in the kitchen cooking healthy meals for herself. That’s how Dana Eats was born.”
“Rashi is a nutritionist and the founder of The Protein Bake Shop – a range of delicious, guilt-free, paleo goodies. Her job is to help people feel better about themselves, and to be the best version of themselves. I love that!”
Reemami’s Resort 2016 collection is available at Harvey Nichols – Kuwait, D’NA Riyadh, and The Cartel Dubai.
