The resistant sturdiness of metal has found new form in the capable hands of Dior’s expert craftsmen, as they transform white and yellow gold into malleable, stunning ribbons through which pear-cut diamonds and other precious gemstones are set. Victoire de Castellane, Creative Director of Christian Dior’s fine-jewelry division, had a vision to create an exquisite selection of jewelry that mimicked the way couture fabrics like silk, organza, and taffeta undulated in movement and the graceful way they fell on the body. The results include the brand’s absolutely breathtaking new ‘Soir Dior Noué Émeraude’ piece, which dazzles the eye and baffles the mind. It seems contrary to all human logic that the sculpted twists and turns of this necklace should exist, but it is with the most carefully hand-crafted precision that each piece comes into being. Not only has precious metal been rendered into unbelievable fabric-like form, but each rivulet is mounted at different heights with different cuts – brilliant, pear, oval, baguette, and marquise – to elicit impressive dimensionality and altering levels of shine. This is one luxurious ribbon you’ll want to flaunt for eternity.
