A Brief History of... Miu Miu
Miuccia Prada sees the launch of Miu Miu in 1992 as an opportunity to explore new territory. She contrasts her minimalist designs at Prada with more extreme and playful looks at Miu Miu. The first boutique opened in Via della Spiga, Milan in 1993.
Three years after the launch of Miu Miu, the label shows its first collection at New York Fashion Week in 1995. Kate Moss is selected to star in the show, and this move instantly gains the attention of the industry.
Drew Barrymore is the first celebrity to grace a Miu Miu ad campaign. She channels the youthful rebellion of the label perfectly.
From NYFW to LFW in two short years, Miu Miu maintains the buzz that helped launch the brand. Miuccia Prada chooses Angela Lindvall as the star of the LFW collection.

Madonna makes a big splash during her 2004 musical tour when she wears Miu Miu’s black leather and gold buckled boots (created exclusively for her) on stage

Miu Miu’s celebrity ad campaigns continue, this time with Lou Doillon, Evan Rachel Wood, and Selma Blair starring as a triumvirate of stylish gamines.
Kirsten Dunst is selected to be the subject for Miu Miu’s seductive and theatrical 2007 ad campaign.
In 2008, French songstress Vanessa Paradis is introduced as the latest face of Miu Miu. This decadent ad campaign features Paradis as the representative of another side to the Miu Miu woman.
The brand also makes waves with their 2009 ad campaign which featured a (then relatively unknown) 16 year-old model named Lindsey Wixson.
In 2011, the brand opens a three-story, 500 square meter store in the middle of the world's most exclusive luxury district: Ginza, Tokyo. Crystal, damask backdrops and visual references to old bank vaults add visual appeal to the decadent boutique.
Once again, Miu Miu’s youth fixation takes over when the label casts 14-year old newcomer Hailee Steinfeld in its new ad campaign, shot by Bruce Weber.
