Accessories designer Lilian Afshar won the fashion crowd’s hearts with her gorgeous line of luxury Perspex box clutches, L’Afshar. The key to her brand’s successful aesthetic lies in Afshar’s personal sense of style, which is sophisticated, understated, and minimal, all underpinned by old-school glamor. In this month’s installment of 7 Days of Chic, Savoir Flair follows the young designer through a week of looks that work for every day, date night, traveling, and dressier occasions, informed by a high/low mix of street style, high street, and high fashion.

“This outfit is perfect for meetings. I love the clash of the textured top with the color and delicacy of the skirt.”
How has your personal style evolved over the years?
Before studying fashion design, I actually used to wear more color and print.
Having started my own brand, I tend to care more about comfort, especially when I’m spending most of my days at the factory or running errands.
How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Minimal and maximal (depends on my mood and the fact that I’m a Gemini too) and dressed-down dressy (if that makes sense).
“I love this jacket – it’s a great high-street find. This is the ideal outfit for a day of running errands or visiting museums in London.”
“I’m on my way to lunch, but I would wear this outfit absolutely anywhere; it’s so comfortable!”

Where do you generally like to shop?
When abroad, Browns and Barneys. In Dubai, it’s mostly Boutique 1 and Harvey Nichols.
“I love anything by Madiyah Al Sharqi, including this dress, which I’m wearing to an event in DIFC.”

What was the first thing of value you ever bought that you still own?
The Dior monogrammed saddle bag in 2003.
“On my way to a breakfast meeting in the most comfortable heels that match anything! I bought them on sale, so I love them even more.”
Is there anything you once thought you’d never wear and now do?
Not really. If I don’t like something, I don’t think I’ll ever wear it – like Crocs, for example.
“I purchased this beautiful silk kimono from Tokyo – I’m obsessed with Japan. This outfit is so easy it would work on a flight.”

“I bought this top from the Sass and Bide flagship store on Broome Street, which is so beautiful. It’s great for a weekend brunch with friends.”
