There was a surreal, Dali-esque quality to the way Delfina Delettrez presented her inventive new accessories collection, “Faceted,” at Paris Fashion Week during the Spring/Summer 2016 season, with lifelike ears, noses, and mouths stuck to a mirrored glass supporting a dazzling collection of esoteric jewelry. Her fetching, eye-catching (no pun intended!) collection caught our notice because Delettrez specifically declared her nose ring for the least likely recipient: the bride-to-be.
Not only was Delettrez proposing unique statement pieces for the season, but she was also proposing that your dude propose with one of her “engagement” nose rings. Real diamonds. Fake piercing. Clearly, she’s keeping on theme with surrealism, as this is the least likely engagement piece ever, but it’s also kind of intriguing. Delettrez is attempting to break the mold of tradition, but only time will tell if her methods are successful. This look has appeal for the alternative bride, but will it catch on mainstream? That remains to be seen. In the meantime, we’re all about rocking a diamond nose ring for non-romantic occasions.
