UAE-based “experimental” fashion label IAMMAI returns with a second collection that expands the language of the first, filling in the lines with architectural elements and feminine accents. In an exclusive interview with Savoir Flair, designer Mai Albudoor elucidated the difference between her first and second collection, stating, “The first explored the juxtaposition of kaftan and shirtdress. This collection is an expression of architecture and feminism.” By suffusing traditional Middle Eastern concepts with artful, modern touches, Albudoor is able to extract an elegant and effortless look for the season.
In IAMMAI’s ‘Experiment2’ collection, you’ll find contemporary sheath dresses featuring smooth, unblemished surfaces and rich fabrics, which intermingle with drawstring versions and two-piece separates. Other looks are amplified with pleated scarf attachments, as well as pleated capes and tabards, while fully pleated cape-back dresses make gorgeous statement pieces for the evening.
