While many were expecting something with a little more ‘wow factor’, we can only but applaud Alessandro Michele’s first womenswear collection for Gucci. The new creative head presented a line that wavered from the luxury label’s signature sophistication, with a casual and youthful collection for the Fall 2015 season that took us back to school. The suits were tailored, jackets and tops were embellished with bumblebees – perhaps the crescent of Michele’s school – trenches were long and made to look like uniforms, and the skirts were a classroom-appropriate length. The accessories followed suit, with models sporting oversized, reading glasses, berets, and big bowties. If anyone can make geek look this good, it’s Gucci.
