“Opulent restraint” was the theme of Michael Kors’ Fall/Winter 2015 collection, and the designer deftly accomplished the contradiction by decorating wool separates and relaxed 1930s suiting with luxe touches of fur. The fur muff was a standout accessory from the collection, not only because we just don’t see fur muffs anymore (save for at upscale vintage stores), but also because they are the ultimate way to keep your hands warm on frigid winter days. Elegant fur stoles and jewel-toned fur chubs were also introduced in the collection, and were a covetable look. However, we prefer faux versions of fur – synthetic types offer the same dense warmth, without the mental anguish. Here’s hoping that Fall/Winter 2015 offers some faux options, because Kors’ idea to resurrect fur muffs is actually a pretty good one.
