In the wise words of Sheryl Crow, a change will do you good.
Last year, accessories designer Rula Galayini decided to reinvent and rebrand the homegrown brand she founded in 2007, known as Poupée Couture. This season, she reintroduces it under her own name in order to give it a more global appeal.
While Poupée Couture had received great support both locally and internationally, Galayini was looking for something more. “I’m always experimenting with my designs and product development and, as I have evolved as a designer, so has the brand,” she told Savoir Flair exclusively on the set of her lookbook shoot. “To facilitate international expansion, I sought out a crowdfunding platform, not only for the financial support, but also to bring on board a group of people who believed in my brand and saw potential in my business plan. With this backing behind me, I was able to focus on the rebranding and I am so proud to relaunch it today as Rula Galayini.”
Fans of the original brand will be glad to know that the new line retains much of its previous aesthetic. “Rula Galayini brings a fresh and more international feel that still retains the roots of my inspiration,” she explained.
