Although Bleach’s Spring/Summer 2015 offering is simple in its overall design efforts, the soft, relaxed collection makes a big impression. The Emirati brand, designed by Budreya Faisal, centers its thesis on abaya-inspired pieces, and for Spring 2015 this concept is elevated with gentle Japanese touches. “I have always been inspired by Japanese design – even before becoming a fashion designer,” Faisal shares with Savoir Flair. “Japanese designers spoke to me like no other brand did, because of the minimalism, layering, and looseness in their silhouettes that isn’t as common anywhere else. There is an elegance to their minimalism that is translated into everything Japanese, beyond fashion alone.” This is evident in Bleach’s slouchy overalls, relaxed jumpsuits, patterned blouses, blossom-printed Japanese Hakama pants, cozy sweaters with matching maxi skirts, and delicate open-faced robes. The mood is inviting, while the silhouette works with the body’s contours rather than against them.
