A fully tinted, black Mercedes picks me up from my hotel in Paris on Tuesday and we head to the Rive Gauche (Left Bank) for a cocktail party hosted by MyTheresa to celebrate JJ Martin and the launch of her “La Double J Curates” couture jewelry collection exclusively on MyTheresa.com.
In a private penthouse designed by Jacques Grange on the Île Saint-Louis overlooking spectacular views of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the fashion world’s finest came out to play. Guests included Daisy Lowe (who was celebrating her 26th birthday), Brian Atwood, Ashley Olsen, Caroline de Maigret, Elena Perminova, Bruno Frisoni, Erin O’Connor, Veronika Heilbrunner, Eleonora Carisi, and Jennifer Tilly, who were treated to a variety of cocktail aperitifs and sipped on Paillard Brut Grand Cru Champagne.
The apartment, which according to whispers heard across the room was owned by a “Texan billionaire”, served as the perfect backdrop for JJ Martin’s expertly curated couture jewelry pieces. Amongst original Matisse paintings, as well as about a dozen bold and beautiful taxidermy pieces, the statuesque Martin and MyTheresa’s charming Paula Reed and Justin O’Shea greeted the crowd warmly.
Two stuffed tigers in the bedroom of the apartment were the talking point of the evening, as everyone from Atwood to Perminova posed with the giant beauties. But even they weren’t enough to take the guests’ focus away from the jewelry, which features a selection of incredible and rare vintage jewelry from the likes of Versace, Valentino, Chanel, and Karl Lagerfeld.
The collaboration with MyTheresa.com is a luxury e-tail first, as Martin – a vintage obsessive – brings her voracious appetite for jewelry curation to the website.
Her collection launches exclusively on MyTheresa.com on February 10th.
