Everyone loves to play the “look how busy I am” game, but few actually juggle as many things as Rosemin Manji, the Founder and Managing Director of bespoke luxury management firm RR&Co. She works around the clock managing the needs of high-demand clients from all over the world and hosting some of Dubai’s most exclusive events – all that in towering heels and with only a couple of hours of sleep every night.
Click through the gallery to follow Manji around a day in her life as she gets ready to host a VIP event in Dubai with Marchesa and take part in a L’Oréal conference.
My alarm goes off. I actually hate early mornings, mainly because I work best at night, but if I have to wake up after just three hours of sleep I want to wake up to this view. The Palm, sunrise, the reflection on the water – I love Dubai!
I glance at my phone to see if I have any urgent e-mails and then shut my eyes and snooze my iPhone about two more times.
I am finally awake! I go to the kitchen and turn on my laptop to look at my e-mails. I tend to get a lot of e-mails in the evenings, as most of my clients are abroad. I read news from WWD and CNN just to get an overview of what’s happening in the world of fashion and the world in general.
I go through phases when it comes to breakfast, but I always eat in front of my computer. At the moment, I’m liking Rachel’s organic blueberry yoghurt with Jordan’s almond granola. I have a cup of hot water with slices of fresh ginger, and I take my multivitamins with a glass of lemon water. I’m not crazy about drinking liters of waters a day, so I have to infuse it with lemon or mint.
I am preparing for my day – today is particularly crazy, as I am hosting two back-to-back events in Downtown. I print out my notes for the L’Oréal conference and put them in my large Jimmy Choo carryall bag. I also add my makeup bag, ‘Essence No. 2: Gardenia’ by Elie Saab (currently my favorite perfume), a phone charger, and ballet flats.
I call my team in the office to go through the checklist of things to do today. I also check how the fittings held by Marchesa’s Keren Craig for VIPs and royals at the presidential suite of the Sofitel Downtown are going, and follow up on RSVPs for tonight’s cocktail party. We organized this event in five days, which was very hectic. We invited 50 ladies for a preview of the Marchesa resort collection and a chance to order ‘Seen on the Red Carpet’ gowns, which are pretty spectacular.
After meeting the team from L’Oréal and going over the timetable with them, I start emceeing the roundtable discussions for ‘Beauty in the Middle East’ with guest of honor Mrs. Sara Ravella, Vice President of L’Oréal. She’s in town from Paris to meet a select group of women in the region to discuss all things beauty. I’m wearing a Mochi blue cape, a Saint Laurent culottes/jumpsuit, and Gianvito Rossi heels, which are super comfortable.
I rush to the Sofitel Downtown. My creative team is putting the finishing touches to the setup around the pool with candles, flowers, and a photo wall. I quickly go up to the presidential suite and meet Keren, who has selected a special dress for me to wear tonight – lucky me! I pull out my Nathalie Trad clutch and put my essentials inside: lipstick, mobile, and pressed powder compact.
Between the gorgeous dresses on the mannequins and the perfect backdrop of the Burj Khalifa, the evening is off to a good start. I always want to personally greet my guests and make sure they have a drink and a chance to meet the designer. Tonight, we also have jewelry designer John Brevard showcasing some pieces. He’s charming, and no once can resist his diamonds. With Tinker Taylor on board, the theme of the event is to have everything you order customized to your desire, from emerald and diamond phones to color options on gowns.
We have cars waiting at the hotel to take the designer and guests from New York to dinner. A friend of mine, who is a collector of Marchesa gowns, has graciously offered to host tonight’s dinner in honor of Keren Craig.
The weather is beyond amazing, so dinner is being served outside and a great DJ is playing 80s and 90s tunes. There are about 20 of us in total, including Art Gallery owner Maliha Tabari, Mochi designer Ayah Tabari, and Rami Al Ali, to name a few.
