In a venerated corner of a traditional Lebanese neighborhood lies the Kosremelli building, and within, one will find the Ashi Studio Atelier. Surrounded by palm trees and a beautifully manicured lawn, the Ashi Studio Atelier is a welcoming space, soaked with sunlight and lit from within by a warm golden glow imparted by overhead chandeliers. As you walk in the door, you are instantly greeted by Mohammad Ashi’s designs, which are suspended from the ceiling by silk ribbons. It is a stunning and memorable way to present the work of the atelier, and we were instantly spellbound by Ashi’s enchanting gowns and jackets. The interior is lavishly appointed, punctuated by old-school charm like faux-candle lighting and gilded mirrors. The hallway leads to the workshop, where we discovered Ashi’s mood boards, sketches, and piles of luxurious fabrics. We also reveled in designs that were in both beginning and intermediate stages of development, pinned together on dress forms awaiting Ashi’s magic touch.
