The Corto Moltedo boutique in Milan, where the Savoir Flair team met with the charming designer for a preview of his Spring 2015 collection, is located on a quiet street just off the incredibly luxurious shopping address Via Monte Napoleone. From the grand piano at the entrance and the tiki bar with stools in the corner to the whole coconuts served to guests as refreshment, the space is a perfect reflection of the designer’s outlook on both life and design: fun, spontaneous, and an eclectic mix of just about everything. Speaking to Savoir Flair, Gabriele Corto Moltedo explained that the palette of his new collection was “inspired by the cloudy sky of summer in Italy, with flashes of blazing sunsets. Very natural and very contrasting.”
The brand’s classic ‘Priscilla’ bag was revamped to include intricate handiwork via weaves reminiscent of wicker chairs found in rural Italy. Moltedo also introduced a new silhouette in the shape of the bucket bag – one of the season’s must-have bag styles – presented in python, canvas, and bentota woven material. “If I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be the ‘Priscilla Bowery’ bag in storm gray,” Moltedo revealed.
