Leila Kashanipour, the London-based, Iranian designer behind cult accessories label LeiVanKash, has embraced a new, more refined direction for Spring/Summer 2015 with the debut of her ‘L’Étoile de Botteh’ collection. “Étoile” means star in French and “botteh” means paisley in Persian, thus the name of the collection announces the synthesis of Kashanipour’s Persian heritage with her current London lifestyle. The designer represents the theme with the use of stars and abstract shapes plucked from both ancient Persian architecture and modern European structures, which elicits a harmonious relationship between the East and the West.
Slick, minimal bangles, delicate earrings, and pendant necklaces are featured in an array of finishes, from sterling silver to 22kt gold plating – both of which are new materials for the designer. Appointed with diamonds, sapphires, and multi-colored enamel trim, the LeiVanKash collection radiates understated glamour. When asked how it differed from previous collections, she told Savoir Flair exclusively, “It is more minimal in terms of look and wear. It is subtle with a quirky twist. Negative space has been used throughout the line, where the wearer’s skin becomes part of the piece. I felt I needed to do something finer, as I was growing older and my style was changing. It is a different side of me and something that I would like to pursue.”
