Self-proclaimed bad girls unite! Under the banner of Miu Miu, the naughty and the not-so-nice collide for Spring/Summer 2015, teaming down the runway to a soundtrack from John Waters’ subversive film Female Trouble. This season, Miuccia Prada revels in the rebel, and her girls deliciously mask their naughty ways under prim coats and pencil skirts from underneath which taut tummies peek.
For the spring season, Miu Miu sticks to a fairly singular script. Belted skirts, tailored housecoats, and lean cigarette trousers repeat the bad-girl image early and often. However, Prada deftly weaves her mischievous message into the presentation with flesh-revealing cropped chiffon tops finished with sweet ruffles that belie the true nature of the incorrigible wearer. Underneath the leather jackets, embroidered car coats, and knit tops, there is a girl primed and ready to come undone. For the left-of-center lady who embraces wanton ways, Miu Miu offers a variety of come-hither dressed-up looks, but the real conceit to all of this is Prada’s use of incredibly intricate fabrics to achieve a finish that is commonplace. What’s the saying? “It cost me a lot of money to look this cheap.”
