Regional accessories designer Nathalie Trad and Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, co-founder and director of members-only retailer D’NA, have collaborated on an exclusive collection, entitled ‘L’Espirit Deco Modern’. Taking inspiration from Art Deco, Trad looked to geometric cigarette cases, minaudières, and compacts from haute jewelers of the 1920s and 30s.
For this special collection, Trad chose to incorporate copper, shell, and wood with a trompe-l’œil technique, used to create the look of marble. “We wanted to tap into this luxurious deco sensibility by creating a collection of clutches that are both irresistible objects of desire as well as precious heirlooms meant to be passed down from one generation to the next,” explained Trad. The collection is comprised of four unique styles: ‘The Adler’, ‘The Dixon’, ‘The Leon’, and ‘the Raleigh’.Fa
Revealing exclusively to Savoir Flair, Trad said, “Soon after I launched my label, Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz became one of my biggest supporters, and in many respects, acted as a mentor. This collaboration came about spontaneously during one of our conversations and quickly turned into a reality. Creating a capsule collection with Deena has been a privilege and an extremely enriching experience that has allowed me to learn from her wealth of knowledge and push the boundaries of design.”
The new Nathalie Trad x Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz ‘L’Espirit Deco Modern’ collection will be available exclusively at D’NA boutiques and online at e-commerce site Farfetch.com as of September 29.
