From the styling of the show to the pieces themselves, Missoni’s Spring/Summer 2015 presentation appeared to be heavily influenced by ethnic style with looks that reflected tropical trends and gypsy bohemianism. Spun into featherweight knits, Missoni’s full collection could travel with you without weighing your luggage down – ideal for a summer adventure abroad or simply a road trip to the northern Emirates. The gossamer finishes, embroidered details and soft, romantic palette felt like a graceful departure from Milan’s weightier motifs.
The collection’s myriad prints, patterns, and knits required a relaxed silhouette to balance it out – and that’s exactly what Angela Missoni did. Simple gypsy skirts were shown with beachy stripes and sheer knits stitched with metallic thread, while dresses bore Missoni’s blurry sunset color-blocking and silk-leaf prints. Sheer tops and fitted jackets were emblazoned with tropical blossoms, while silk-screened and knitted trench coats were languid and casual, tied nonchalantly at the waist. With a fantastic palette that read summer, sea, and sunset holding the collection together, the audience was treated to warm, summery style that was as covetable as it comes. Lightweight, breezy looks accomplished Missoni’s seasonal goals, all the while reinforcing the brand’s talent for artisanally crafted knitwear.
