Victoria Beckham has captured the hearts of the fashion industry with her ability to create the perfect eclectic-yet-wearable uniform for the modern woman over the past nine seasons – and today’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection was no exception.
In fact, the designer went so far as to branch out into the footwear realm today, offering up chunky block heels and white ankle booties, further proving that she knows what the contemporary woman needs, from head to – quite literally – toe. “Creating all elements of the collection under one roof enabled me to complete and strengthen the silhouette and this has been key in the design journey for me,” the show notes offered up as insight into why the designer forayed into footwear.
Beckham’s first self-designed shoes accessorized a predominately military-inspired collection, with details such as cargo pockets and snap buckles reappearing on various silhouettes. Other military accents included reinterpreted camouflage (of the floral variation) and a bevy of webbing belts, while a cream shirt coat over a long cream dress (look 27) and a series of loose calf-length skirts kept the collection approachable without feeling too harsh.
As the Victoria Beckham Empire continues to expand, it will be interesting to watch the designer work to maintain the controlled precision she’s built into the brand’s DNA while honoring the fluid style evolution of the ever-changing ‘modern’ woman.
