In this Exclusive First Look feature, we introduce you to the exquisite works of Caroline Seikaly. The young Lebanese designer, whose great grandmother was a costume maker for the Moulin Rouge in Paris, has fashion in her blood, and has dressed the likes of Mila Kunis in Black Swan. Her Spring/Summer 2014 collection was inspired by one of her favorite characters, Michelle Pfeiffer’s Elvira in Scarface. Seikaly told Savoir Flair exclusively, “Her cold, yet seductive, aura and her unique way of wearing ultra-sexy pieces with a relaxed and elegant attitude inspired the style of the SS14 ‘Spectrum’ collection.”
Although the breezy printed maxi dresses in Seikaly’s collection look simple, they belie the designer’s talent for garment construction. With couture-like sensibilities, Seikaly weaves delicate silks into airy, gorgeous looks. This season, her palette is perfect for the heat of the Middle East with her sleek silk separates, dresses, and casuals pitched in a delicious array of printed pastels, azure blues, and blazing whites. The collection is soft and sensual, but there is a sharp sexiness to her structured blazers and stovepipe trousers that work well for the urban sophisticate. Discover surefire wardrobe favorites in the gallery above from a designer who understands the imperative value of feminine fashion in the modern era.
