7 Days of Chic: Lina Mustafa
22 OPEN GALLERY

At only 23, Lina Mustafa finds herself at the forefront of a new class of fashion entrepreneurs emerging from the capital city of Abu Dhabi. With the launch of The Luxury Arcade, she put both luxury fashion and her own personal style brand on the map. Her position as owner and buyer for the avant-garde boutique grants her access to brands the market has yet to know about, making her one to watch when it comes to trends.

Her effortless wardrobe combinations derive from a love of neutrals, which Mustafa enhances with leather accents and hip modern accessories. With a look that combines the best elements of downtown sophistication, razor-sharp street style, and eccentric accoutrements, Mustafa stands out from the rest of the regional trendsetters. Discover a week’s worth of looks from Lina Mustafa in the gallery above, and read more about her personal style preferences in the interview below.

How has your personal style evolved over the years?
My style is a lot more minimal and simple.

How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Minimal, masculine, and neutral.

How does your style reflect your personality?
I love fashion and I’m very motivated and always busy, so I like fun pieces that are easy to wear – hence the neutral colour palette of my wardrobe.

What would your signature outfit be?
I live in sneakers, so it would definitely have to be leather leggings with Jordans.

What inspires you to put on a fabulous outfit?
I love getting dressed up. It transforms my entire mood.

Dubai vs. Abu Dhabi – which has more stylish inhabitants?
I know a lot of women and men in Abu Dhabi who not only have impeccable style but also appreciate fashion. This is the reason I opened The Luxury Arcade.

Where do you generally like to shop?
I love shopping in Paris, because they have such a diverse collection of designers, from classics such as Givenchy and Chanel to upcoming emerging talents. There is such a love of fashion in that city.

What are the labels you currently love?
Madiyah Al Sharqi is one of the only designers that can make me wear colour. I especially love her feminine pastel palettes. Other designers I am obsessed with at the moment include Damir Doma, for his sleek cuts and tailoring, Tala M for her unique jewellery, and Wanda Nylon’s edgy jackets.

What was the first thing of value you ever bought that you still own?
The most valued thing I have ever invested in is my store in Abu Dhabi, The Luxury Arcade. Nothing can compare to the passion I have for the store and the designers I stock in it.

Are there any fashion items that you collect?
I am a shoe hoarder. I definitely have an addiction when it comes to heels and sneakers.

Are you a bag person or a shoe person?
Shoes all the way!

Is there anything you once thought you’d never wear and now do?
Maxi skirts. They’re perfect for long, hot summers.

I never walk out of the house without…
My watch.

You can never have too many…
Shoes!

Who are your greatest fashion influences?
I believe you can find fashion influences anywhere you go. I especially love to travel around East London for its eclectic and unique street style – anything goes there.
