The pageantry, the glitz, the glamour – it must be the Oscars! Last night, millions around the world tuned in for Hollywood’s most important award ceremony, the 86th Academy Awards. It goes without saying that this is as big a night for high-fashion, red carpet moments as it is for the award winners – some of whom walked away with both Best Dressed status and a golden statue. Seasoned pros, like Angelina Jolie in a glimmering gown by Elie Saab, Sandra Bullock in a breathtaking, draped dress by Alexander McQueen, and Cate Blanchett in a glowing cream-and-crystal creation by Giorgio Armani, stood alongside young actresses such as Anne Hathaway, who went the vixen route in a fitted black Gucci gown, and Jennifer Lawrence, who opted for a peplum-adorned red column dress by Dior Couture. Tonight’s big winner, however, was Lupita Nyong’o, who was the embodiment of polish, beauty, and youth in a flowing ice-blue dress by Prada. The breakout star of Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave gave a moving acceptance speech as she clutched her Best Supporting Actress award. The Oscars packed plenty of wow-factor this year, but nothing could top seeing Nyong’o win in a look that perfectly captured her serene, graceful demeanor.
