Last week, Cartier hosted a beautiful soirée for friends and clients of the brand at the Palacia de Liria in Madrid, introducing them and the world to the Cartier ‘Beautés du Monde’ High Jewelry collection. As its name suggests, the Cartier ‘Beautés du Monde’ High Jewelry collection takes inspiration from and illustrates the magnificence of the world around us in the form of masterfully crafted jewelry brought to life using Cartier’s skilled craftsmanship and savoir-faire.

The collection is a testimony to Cartier’s ability to recognize, appreciate, and further enhance natural beauty existing in our environment through clever and proficient use of design techniques, the tension of lines, geometry, and abstraction. The creative interplay of precious rocks amplifies the elements of nature and the cultures that inspired the Cartier ‘Beautés du Monde’ High Jewelry collection. Doing what the historic maison does best, Cartier brings alive the wonders of nature – like the blooming waterlily, the vibrant corals, and the diamond-crusted scales of a mythical serpent, among others – in jewel form, capturing their essence with a colorful spectrum of priceless gems.

The 'Nouchali' Necklace

The Nouchalinecklace expresses Cartiers creative imagination of the waterlily, where a 10.61-carat rubellite stone sits proudly in the center, surrounded by diamond-and-onyx petals. The blossoming flower is suspended on a chalcedony bead necklace, enhanced by the use of the “trembling” setting, which animates the petals by enabling them to vibrate slightly at the slightest movement.

The 'Recif' Necklace

The rhythm of the Recif necklace – inspired by underwater corals – is set by a chromatic contrast of orange and green. The ribbed coral and emerald beads residing on a bed of sparkling diamonds are treated to a twisting movement with such expertise that in no way is the wearers comfort compromised.

The 'Water Aspis' Necklace

A fierce and hypnotic serpent embedded with five impressive 43.49-carat Ceylon sapphire cabochons is designed to coil around the wearers neck. While the sapphires echo the vicious nature of the cold-blooded predator, triangular diamonds and lapis lazuli are planted in a geometric pattern to make up the scales of the majestic creature.

The 'Apatura' Necklace

The Apatura necklace is essentially an abstract interpretation of the iridescent butterfly. To mimic the color scheme of the insects wings, three Australian opal stones with its and vibrant reflections were chosen to sit in the center framed by geometrical motifs composed of diamond bars and blue sapphire beads whose shade of color echoes the opal’s fire. The pendant seamlessly detaches from the necklace, allowing it to be worn alone or as a statement brooch.

The 'Rituel' Necklace

With the Rituel set, the Cartier Beautés du Monde High Jewelry collection pays homage to the exquisiteness of embellishments and, more especially, to traditional Mesoamerican jewelry. The necklace, which is made of two rows of azure chalcedony beads, opens to reveal an iridescent constellation of rubies. The designs are subtle and delicate, alternating between diamond cones and faceted rubies that appear to dangle apart from one another through an invisible setting.

The 'Iwana' Necklace

The texture and depth of a green iguanas skin served as inspiration for the Iwana necklace. It displays its splendor with a flexible necklace that is covered in emeralds and diamonds, evoking the fluctuations and movements of the animals skin. By focusing on the richness and emptiness of a geometric succession of diamond-paved triangles, Cartier emphasizes texture. These triangles create an open-work between one another that echoes the facets of three magnificent Colombian emeralds weighing a combined 43.45 carats. Their four-sided cut is designed to resemble the animals dorsal spines, serving as a symbol of Cartiers skill and style.

Apart from the opulent collection of necklaces, the Cartier ‘Beautés du MondeHigh Jewelry collection also includes a range of seven extraordinary rings. The rings, inspired by the abundance of nature, were designed to look like tiny sculptures. Together, they cover all brand’s major areas of expression: geometry, movement, color contrasts, flora, and fauna.
