For this month’s installment of Fashion HQ, we headed to Abu Dhabi to discover the design studio of Hamda Al Fahim, an Emirati designer who is making a name for herself in the eveningwear and wedding markets.
In the entry of Al Fahim’s studio stands one of her show-stopping designs, lying in dazzling relief beneath an opulent chandelier. Inside, an all-white interior is touched with strokes of baby-blue, blush-pink, and buttery-yellow accents. It is in this lush and feminine environment that Al Fahim’s glamorous eveningwear designs are born. A self-proclaimed “book hoarder”, her shelves are lined with good reads, and her love of nature is evidenced by the fresh flowers that can be found in every corner. Inside her atelier are jars of delicate sequins, which will eventually make their way onto her gorgeous gowns. This inviting area is softened by touches of European grace, like Louis XIV chairs, transporting one instantly to the French countryside.
