Baggy Denim

If it wasn’t already obvious, we now have proof that skinny jeans are officially over. According to Lyst, the global searches for baggy and relaxed-fit denim went up 86% in 2021. Searches for loose-fit trousers also saw an 84% increase in demand.

Flowy Dresses

Our summer staple (a.k.a the comfy, flowy dress) is already seeing a surge in demand. Searches for long, breezy dresses are up by 36% year-on-year.

Knit Bralettes

We’ll admit it; we hardly expected the bralette trend to survive for this long. But, turns out fashion lovers are not yet over the knit bralette trend. Page views for bralettes have gone up by a whopping 114% since the beginning of the year.

Metallics

After months and months of hanging around in loungewear, a surprising trend towards metallic hues and fabrics popped up towards the end of 2020. The metallic trend has since taken firm roots and recorded a 43% rise in demand since January.

Exaggerated Shoulders and Sleeves

Dramatic sleeves and exaggerated shoulders are not only the influencer trend du jour, but also one loved by consumers. Searches for “puff-sleeve” dresses witnessed an 18% uptick in February and searches for “big-sleeved” tops went up by 28%. Padded shouldered tops and blazers are also massively in demand.

Midriff Floss

The 2020 version of the Noughties visible thong trend, midriff floss is still going strong. In fact, it is expected to be one of the biggest trends come summer with Christopher Esber‘s pieces earning the top spots on shoppers’ wishlists.
