When Arshia Shroff set her sights on launching The Lumière Co. – her new homegrown business – the timing wasn’t exactly ideal. Coinciding with the start of COVID-19 and ensuing UAE-wide lockdown, she was immediately met with challenges. From having to get a permit just to visit her production center to shipping orders to customers or receiving anything from her suppliers, it was, in her words, “definitely a very strange and unprecedented time.” Yet she remained confident in her concept. The Lumière Co., which is an adorable retail experience stocked with unique gifts and brilliant customization options, focuses on products made in-house. This “allows us to produce in small, made-to-order batches to avoid any unnecessary wastage,” Shroff shares with Savoir Flair.

According to Shroff, “Being a homegrown female-owned business, we also wanted to create social impact lines which are very dear to us but also let our customers support causes they care about in a fun and easy way. The ‘Be Kind to Your Mind’ t-shirts have been made in collaboration with a global non-profit supporting mental health awareness to whom a percentage of the profits will be donated.
