Recently, Lebanese designer Saiid Kobeisy took to Instagram to post a video that made us experience a whirlwind of emotions in merely three minutes. Kobeisy collaborated with The Order of Nurses in Lebanon to honor frontline workers by making their bridal dreams come true.
As a part of the collaboration, Kobeisy dressed six nurses and their mothers in his bespoke gowns for their nuptial celebrations. Last year, as Lebanon grappled with an ongoing economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, its capital city was shattered to pieces due to a tragic explosion. As Beirut came to a standstill, the frontline heroes worked tirelessly to save the lives of those injured as well as others who were battling the deadly virus.
Kobeisy’s collaboration is a gesture to honor the heroic efforts of the nurses who were, in fact, affected the most by the crises. In the video, the nurses and their mothers can be seen wearing wide smiles as they get dressed in Kobeisy’s magnificent gowns for their big day. As one of the mothers in the video says, Kobeisy’s meticulously embroidered gowns are much more than a piece of clothing – “they feel like art”. While we can only imagine what it might feel like to dress in his spectacular gowns, we do know that Kobeisy’s gesture is winning hearts.
