If we were to track down the present-day Lady Whistledown of the fashion world, it has to be Lyst. With weekly data drops straight to our inboxes, the fashion search platform knows everybody’s secrets – well, at least about our fashion searches. And we’ve been told that since Bridgerton‘s release on December 25, searches for Regency-era fashion – as seen in the show – have spiked considerably. We’ll admit it; watching Daphne Bridgerton float in exquisite, embellished empire-line gowns made us want one for ourselves too. Okay, more than one. Understandably, so did most Bridgerton fans.
After the toned-down and simple ‘Cottagecore’ trend, thanks to the Netflix Original we might witness a new and rather opposite aesthetic come to life – ‘Regencycore’. According to Lyst, searches for corsets went up by a whopping 123%, those for pearl and feather headbands rose by 49%, long gloves by +23%, and empire-line dresses by 93%. Headpieces by Simone Rocha and Magnetic Midnight dresses by Brock Collection and Erdem, and corsets by Rasario and Dion Lee received the highest hits.
Your wish(list) is our command. Much like the ambitious 19th-century mamas hunting down the perfect suitor for their daughters, we looked far and wide for the perfect Bridgerton-inspired pieces to add to your 21st-century wardrobe.
