Popularised by Princess Diana, the ‘Lady Dior’ bag is symbolic of the French luxury house. Although a timeless icon, the ‘Lady Dior’, much like the modern woman, constantly reinvents itself. For the fifth edition of the ‘Lady Dior’ Art project, 10 artists from around the world reimagined the signature handbag into what can be dubbed as a unique piece of handheld art. Artists Joël Andrianomearisoa, Judy Chicago, Gisela Colon, Song Dong, Bharti Kher, Mai-Thu Perret, Recycle Group, Chris Soal, Claire Tabouret, and Olga Titus have created their own unique iterations of the signature handbag and transformed it into an object of art and desire.
A special talk series dedicated to the ‘Lady Dior’ Art Project has also been launched on the ‘Dior Talks’ podcast. The premiere episode of the series – which was launched on December 4 – was dedicated to the extraordinary destiny of the emblematic ‘Lady Dior’ handbag. Hosted by journalist Katya Foreman, the series will feature the collaborating artists on the project with a new episode released every Friday.
