Shoes – can you ever really own enough? With designers rolling out fresh styles every season, it’s (almost) impossible not to give in to the temptation of a brand new pair. While it might be tempting to hit ‘Add to Cart,’ impulse buys often lead to regrets. As always, we’ve got your back. We carefully scrutinized the Spring/Summer 2021 runway shows to compile a list of the upcoming season’s biggest shoe trends.
Scroll down to discover the Spring/Summer 2021 shoes that we believe will dominate the trend charts.
Clogs
Love them or hate them, there is definitely no ignoring clogs come spring – at least according to Hermès and Stella McCartney. The runways of both the luxury houses were awash with comfy-looking clogs in a range of colors. Will they make it into the cool girls’ wardrobes? We will have to wait and see.
Dad Flip-flops
If you thought flip-flops this season were chunky, then watch out because they are about to get chunkier. In the comfort-first era, we’re hardly surprised to spot the beach-favorite on the runways. From Kenzo to Stella McCartney, bulked-up flip-flops made several appearances through Fashion Month. Will the style stick? We think, yes.
Platform Shoes
Nineties trends are clearly thriving at the moment, and the return of the platform shoe is just more proof. The shoe style has made a robust comeback in the recent past and judging from the Spring/Summer 2021 runways, the style is not going away anytime soon.
Sock Boots
There is no denying that the sock boot – launched into popularity by Balenciaga – has earned a spot on the “It” shoe list. With a nod of approval from the likes of Fendi, Balenciaga, Balmain, and Off-White, among others, you can expect the streets to be saturated with the unusual breed of shoes.
The Ultimate Square Toe
The (fairly) new kid on the block, Khaite, has sealed its position as a disruptive trend-setter. Whether it’s the matching cardigan and bralettes or the zebra print shoes, “It” girls can’t get enough of the cult brand. As part of its Spring/Summer 2021 collection, the brand showcased what we have dubbed ‘the ultimate square-toed sandal.’ The alien-ish looking sandal appears to be perfectly rectangular, taking the square-toed shoe trend to the next level. Will it be a hit among the cool girl gang? We sure think so.
