By now, we all know (and are excited by) the news of Gigi Hadid expecting a baby with partner Zayn Malik.
The supermodel confirmed the news to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, saying, “Obviously, we wished we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support. Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and be together and really experience it day by day.”

The model is a regular fixture in runway shows and ad campaigns, working with everyone from Burberry to Michael Kors. Hadid has also become well-known for her off-duty street style, which walks the line between masculine and feminine, with a love of oversized shirts, deconstructed suits, and lots of denim.
With such a fashionable reputation, we’re certain Hadid will be serving some serious looks throughout her pregnancy. And if she was in need of inspiration, there are other celebrities who’ve mastered maternity style she can get inspiration from. Below, five of the most noteworthy names.
Angelina Jolie is still one of the best examples of how to pull off red-carpet maternity dressing. She knew how to keep things glamorous and stylish, with a touch of the Old-Hollywood aesthetic.
One of Jolie’s best moments came at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, where she attended a premiere in a Grecian-style olive green dress by Max Azria.
TMZ broke the story of Hadid’s pregnancy before she could, meaning she didn’t have the opportunity to break the internet like Beyoncé did when announcing she was pregnant with twins.
Beyoncé’s maternity fashion really pulled out all the stops. Whether she was dressed in full sparkles for a performance, or decked out in a knock-out all-white gown, no one made more of an impact than her.
Meghan Markle’s pregnancy was a masterclass in elegant, modern maternity dressing. She chose interesting colors – like the time she mixed purple and red, or the countless color-blocking looks she donned – and classic silhouettes that were anything but frumpy.
Even if Hadid doesn’t have any royal engagements coming up, she could take a leaf out of Meghan’s book for a mature, chic approach to pregnancy fashion.
During her pregnancy, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley proved maternity fashion can be sexy. One of her biggest style moments came at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where she wore a custom Atelier Versace silver dress. The gown gave plenty of room for her bump but showed you don’t have to limit yourself to baggy clothes or empire-line cuts when pregnant.
Chrissy Teigen is apparently friends with Hadid, so no doubt is already giving the model pointers for looking chic during pregnancy.
Teigen’s maternity style was versatile: she knew how to dress up for the red carpet, but also kept things cool and casual in houndstooth coats and retro bathing suits.
