Trains are one of the oldest means of transportation, acting as the connective tissue between lands far and wide. Even today, many of the world’s busiest stations seem to exist outside of time and, rather paradoxically, are intimately acquainted with the passing of time as travelers tick down the seconds to departure.
For Chanel Cruise 2019/20, the concept of trains – the vehicle for travel that offers both a portal to discovery and an invitation to adventure – is the starting point for a wardrobe that ignites wanderlust in spades. Inside of the Grand Palais, Virginie Viard reconstructed a train station in Beaux-Arts décor, placing her collection into the middle of the hustle and bustle of eager globetrotters. “Traveling around the world is linked to the spirit of Chanel,” she explained.
The clothes reflect the pace of travel, allowing ease of movement, and are designed to capture both practical and stylish needs. There are vibrantly hued jackets that can be dressed up or down, or worn as the ultimate layering piece. Two-tone conical heels are a functional but instantly covetable choice, while the new ‘Chanel 19’ bag is roomy enough for all your on-the-go essentials. Kitted out in a Chanel collection so symbolic of both leisure and excitement leaves us with only one question.
What is your destination?
