As the new Chief Creative Officer at Burberry, Riccardo Tisci has brought a lot of change to the storied British house. In keeping with his penchant for introducing us to the unexpected, Tisci’s first festive campaign for Burberry is a weird and wonderful tribute to the idea of togetherness. Set to the theme “What is Love” and supported by a soundtrack by Deee-Lite, this holiday video is anything but predictable. 

The campaign video features a cast that includes fashion veterans Carla Bruni and Fran Summers, as well as an unusual mix of tastemakers ranging from filmmaker Wu Tsang and performance artist Boychild to the Italian musician Mahmood and hijabi model Ikram Abdi Omar. Shot by photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the diverse cast mingle and move to the song, but a few surprises await – some of which are so off-kilter and so funny that we found ourselves cracking up at our desks. 

“I am connected to the idea of unity, togetherness, and challenging the perception of what love is today,” shared Tisci. “This for me is the real spirit of the season.” He achieves this idea in an inventive and mirthful way that easily makes it the season’s most memorable fashion campaign.
