Oscar Wilde was the quippiest man in history. He would have made a killing in our modern era of memes and inspirational social media quotes. After all, he’s the guy who regularly churned out witticisms like, “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken”, “Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much”, and most famously, “Life imitates art far more than art imitates life”.

In Savoir Flair’s exclusive video shoot for Dior’s ‘Rose des Vents’ jewelry collection, we put Wilde’s quotable quote to the test. An interplay of reality and fantasy takes place as you witness a painting (literally) coming to life in fantastic detail. Close-up shots throw the notion of jewelry as a central art form – one used to adorn the hands, wrist, and décolletage – into sharp relief. In seeing only snippets of the paint being daubed onto canvas, we’re left to wonder: what are they painting? What will take shape? In keeping with the concept, we recommend waiting until the end of the video, where a surprise awaits.
