As a pregnant Meghan Markle gets closer to her due date – she’s expected to deliver in April – her maternity style seems to have changed slightly. And, as expected, her final trimester has brought with it one big celebratory event: her baby shower. Commemorating it by going back to her homeland, the Duchess of Sussex was spotted in New York heading to lunch in something very unexpected: a vintage Courrèges coat from the 1960s.
Styling the black, silk trapeze coat with a more modern pair of black skinny jeans, a pair of her favorite Stuart Weitzman pumps in nude, and the CH Carolina Herrera ‘Matryoshka Locked’ bag, Markle showcased a sartorial side we haven’t seen before. A vintage twist on a contemporary ensemble? We’re not exactly complaining here.
Although the duchess has – once again – defied several royal style rules by wearing jeans and the color black for a special event, she got away with this rather casual ensemble since it wasn’t an official engagement. But between visiting her friends, attending a lively baby shower in her honor, and even having dinner with Serena Williams, Markle certainly made the most of her visit to the Big Apple. We wonder if another vintage item of clothing will make an appearance when this stylish mother-to-be heads to Morocco with Prince Harry later this month?
