When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — a.k.a. Prince William and Kate Middleton — arrived at the 2019 British Academy Film and Television Arts awards (BAFTAs) like two very stylish salt-and-pepper shakers in shades of monochrome, a hint of what was to come on the red carpet became readily apparent. If we didn’t know better (and we do), we’d think everyone was using the same stylist (they aren’t). There were dramatic black dresses, demure white ball gowns, and even looks that combined the elegantly contrasting shades. So much black and white saturated the red carpet that pops of color stood out even more, especially in the case of Lily Collins’ royal blue ensemble, Amy Adams’ stately mauve gown, and Laura Harrier’s citrus-tinged dress.
When it comes to Britain’s most high-profile red carpet – and the last one of awards season before the Oscars arrive – it stands to reason that guests would pull out their most classic looks. In the gallery below, Savoir Flair has the inside scoop on the best looks of the 2019 BAFTAs.
