Cabled sweaters, vibrant puffas, thick fur coats, and leather jumpsuits proved one point: the weather during Paris Haute Couture Week for the Spring 2019 Couture season was cold. Freezing cold. In fact, snow acted as a romantic but frigid backdrop to the second day of the proceedings, which forced street-style stars like Olivia Palermo and Chiara Ferragni to reach for cozy layers.
Some braved the cold in flesh-baring looks just for a photo opportunity before throwing on massive coats and heading into the shows, but for the most part, we saw an array of protective styles that proved fashion exists to perform a necessary function – in addition to its ability to provoke a fantasy.
