“Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!” That might’ve been the resounding sentiment of those who weren’t able to attend Dua Lipa’s concert in Abu Dhabi yesterday. Dark clouds, strong winds, and uncharacteristically heavy rain put a (literal) damper on the celebrations of the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s one-year anniversary, which was scheduled to be headlined by the singer.
The day, however, started out with promise for Lipa, who toured the museum dressed in thigh-high leather boots and a multi-print dress – and fit right in with the dazzling artworks that surrounded her. Enjoying everything from abstract art by Piet Mondrian and a self-portrait by Vincent van Gogh to that gleaming dome designed by Jean Nouvel, she turned her cultural outing into a stylish photoshoot. And with a setting like that, can you blame her? While there’s no news on the rescheduling of her concert just yet, Lipa has promised to return to give her UAE fans a show that they deserve – sans rain.
