New faces, the end of an era – the Victoria’s Secret fashion show had it all. Opening with a montage of peeks into everything from the casting process to behind-the-scenes moments, former Angels, and the empowering sisterhood developed by the heavenly models, it brought with it quite a few surprises. Just after the shock announcement that she’ll be retiring from the legendary lingerie brand, a visibly emotional Adriana Lima walked her 19th – and final – runway, becoming the longest reigning Angel of all time. As she said her goodbye in front of a standing ovation, a new generation of models was there to follow at her Brian Atwood-clad heels.
Famous faces like Bella Hadid, Behati Prinsloo, Kendall Jenner, Candice Swanepoel, and Stella Maxwell made their return to the runway, while Winnie Harlow and Kelsey Merritt graced it for the very first time. In fact, a whopping 60 models welcomed the annual show’s return to its home of New York with open wings. Other highlights? A fabulous assembly of performers, garments designed by Mary Katrantzou, and actor Dylan Sprouse showing up with a bag of fast food for a special someone. While the show won’t air on TV until December 2nd, there was plenty shared for us to see – and share with you, below.
Walk the Walk
60 models rocked the runway in signature Brian Atwood heels, makeup by the legendary Charlotte Tilbury, hair by Anthony Turner, and hypnotic prints by Mary Katrantzou.
While the main show is what many tune in for, there was no shortage of action going on behind the scenes – read: Kendall Jenner photobombing both momager Kris Jenner and makeup mogul Charlotte Tilbury, Bella Hadid attempting the perfect selfie, and Rita Ora posing with a bevy of models.
When your girlfriend spends months preparing for one of the most-watched fashion events in the world, the only way to greet her post-show is with a burger – right? At least that’s what Dylan Sprouse did for Barbara Palvin, and we can’t think of anything cuter. The Weeknd and Adam Levine also showed up to support their supermodel significant others.
What’s a runway without a great soundtrack? Eight musical acts took the stage to croon as the models paced the runway. Previous shows have featured The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, and an unforgettable moment with Ariana Grande. And with performances this year by Halsey, Rita Ora, The Chainsmokers, and Shawn Mendes, we can’t wait to see the final result.
