From Apuli and the Amalfi Coast to the Italian Riviera, Italy is one of Europe’s foremost travel destinations, known for its verdant vineyards, cobbled piazzas, ancient architecture, and romantic gondola rides. But for the lucky visitor, Italy offers more than sightseeing and fine dining; it beckons you to embrace the country’s charming, laidback ways and to pretend, if only for a moment, that you’re one of its people.
For Spring/Summer 2019, Tod’s invited its guests to embrace ‘An Italian Attitude’, offering an ultra-luxe uniform for the well-heeled who want to look and live like a local. The brand’s calling card is leather, and it flaunted its craft with head-to-toe looks done entirely in leather, snakeskin, and suede.

With an outlook that was both refined and youthful, the presentation centered on impeccably tailored travel-ready separates. Each look was accented with either fringed ‘Gommino’ loafers or sandals and dozens of handsome leather bags in a variety of styles – from totes and crossbodies to buckets. A tiny leather bandana tied off each look with charm.
Tod’s collection offered easeful but very expensive propositions for the coming season, but with global heat indexes climbing to record highs in recent years, head-to-toe leather and suede looks might work better for the cooler months. Snakeskin bombers, cropped suede trousers, fringed leather dresses, and beige leather co-ords were also in the mix, and the judicious use of cobalt-blue leather punched up one fabulous suit and several covetable outerwear pieces.
As if to prove the desirability of the collection, Bella Hadid emerged after the show wearing her look straight from the runway, a pair of leather shorts and a matching leather bomber worn with a white sports bra beneath. It was sporty, but luxe, and the image was instantly splashed around the world thanks to the model’s star status. If the exposure sent anyone searching for the collection that the look came from, they’ll be happy to discover that there are even cooler pieces from Tod’s to choose from for Spring/Summer 2019, but they’ll have to wait to get them.
