Oscar-winning actress, fashion muse, and one of Savoir Flair’s eternal woman crushes, Jennifer Lawrence is the star of Dior’s Fall/Winter 2018 campaign. This goosebump-inducing photoshoot by the talented Brigitte Lacombe reimagines the self-portraits of the gender-defying surrealist artist Claude Cahun for the modern day.

With those piercing blue eyes, Lawrence’s penetrating gaze admits to an internal vulnerability hidden beneath a stalwart, unblinking facade. She is a woman in a man’s world, co-opting its codes like typically masculine fabrics – the kind Christian Dior preferred to work with in his day. In blending the masculine and the feminine, Dior presents a self that embodies both identities. From object to subject, the actress challenges the status quo, even turning the lens back on the viewer.

The idea of male domination is being challenged today more than ever – evidence suggests that it’s no longer a man’s world. In offering clothes that switch as deftly as humans adjust their language to suit the moment, Dior has brilliantly fused sartorial codes from both genders to create a bold new look – this is empowerment from the inside out. Browse through the gallery below to experience the many visuals of Dior’s new Fall/Winter 2018 campaign.
