While Christopher Bailey’s final show for Burberry topped the list of VIP insider events at London Fashion Week, his moment was practically upstaged later in the week by the surprise appearance of one VIR (Very Important Royal). Fashion royalty and actual royalty collided at the Richard Quinn presentation, when Queen Elizabeth II appeared – for her first LFW visit ever – in order to present Quinn with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. It was truly a moment that will go down in LFW history.
Meanwhile, a mob of stylishly appointed fashion claqueurs descended on the presentations in droves, showing off their carefully calculated looks while air-kissing their nearest and dearest on the way to the front row. Burberry saw a major A-list turnout for Bailey’s swan song, with the likes of Zendaya, Sienna Miller, Naomi Watts, and Jourdan Dunn decked out in their brand best.
Naturally, Christopher Kane and JW Anderson attracted indie darlings like the Haim sisters, while fashion heavyweights Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung dashed to as many shows as their schedules would allow.
