She helped you through a crippling break-up. She brought you sushi when you had to slog through the night on a special project for work. She named her first child after you. She’s your ride-or-die, your BFF, your bestie, and your sister-from-another-mister. Whatever you call her, you know one thing is certain: you can’t imagine life without her.
Fortunately, an adjacent “holiday” arrived a few years ago – courtesy of the incorrigible Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation and her band of best friends – that will help you express just how much you care for your BFF. Galentine’s Day, which is marked the day before Valentine’s Day, was initially a fictional celebration that Knope created in order to spread the love to her female besties. Now, women around the world are employing February 13th for the same reasons, and it’s only a matter of time until it catches on in our neck of the woods.
But forget gifting chocolates and teddy bears on Galentine’s Day – a chic little scarf, an indestructible wallet, and a decadent makeup palette are a few examples of the thoughtful little items that will better illustrate your love. She’ll be thankful, and you’ll (maybe) get to borrow one of these extra-fabulous gifts when she’s feeling generous. We call that a win-win.
