Christian Dior believed in fate, fortune, and finding one’s next adventure by following signs and signifiers from the universe. In fact, it was just such a fateful encounter that would one day compel the designer to answer the call of destiny. Cozily installed as a designer at Lucien Lelong, Dior was pursued by Marcel Boussac, a famous post-war industrialist who wanted him to take over the Artistic Director position at Phillipe et Gaston. While walking along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and contemplating his future, Dior stumbled quite literally over an object that would come to direct his life: a star.
This precious symbol indicated to the designer that his career was ready to soar in a totally different direction. Instead of taking over at Phillipe et Gaston, he told Boussac that he would open his own design house, one that would one day change the course of fashion history. The eight-point star has evolved into one of the maison’s most iconic symbols, now serving as the centerpiece to Dior’s extraordinary ‘Rose des Vents’ collection, interpreted by Dior Fine Jewelry Creator Victoire de Castellane.
Today, it is fate that brings Savoir Flair together with the ‘Rose des Vents’ jewelry collection and beautiful emerging fashion influencer, Jana Bassam. In subtle looks from Dior’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection, the elegant Bassam exemplifies the grace, delicacy, and beauty of the legendary maison, but with a contemporary twist.
