What do coffee, pizza, and accessories have in common? Italians get it right – every time.
Sure, the past three weeks of Fashion Month have been full of great new additions in the form of bags, shoes, and jewelry. But when it comes to the perfect finishing touches, Milan undoubtedly takes the (Dolce & Gabbana) crown.
Alessandro Michele set the bar for accessorizing on day one of Milan Fashion Week with what promises to be the “It” bag of the summer. The oversized rubber tote features an easy-to-handle silhouette and Gucci’s reimagined logo on the side.
Alongside the new bag were 70s- and 80s-inspired jewels, from layers of pearls and rainbow stones to an homage to Elton John in the form of pink diamanté sunglasses. Also noteworthy for show-stopping accessories is Prada, a label that is renowned for outside-the-box themes and playful takes on modern classics. This time, Creative Director Miuccia Prada threw caution to the wind, merging romantic florals, comic-strip references, and biker-chic elements across kitten heels and bag straps.
But Milan was not all about garish bravado as brands like Max Mara and Alberta Ferretti kept it super chic by focusing on clean lines, simple colorways, and classic silhouettes – although a logo-printed messenger bag worn across the lower back was an innovative surprise. In short, Milan offered it all, from romantic frills to avant-garde details. Browse the gallery of accessories below, and decide which kind of woman you want to channel for Spring/Summer 2018.
