While anti-fur protests raged on the streets outside, London Fashion Week proceeded on, business as usual. However, LFW’s business tends toward the unusual, with innovative designers like Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou never turning down the chance for sartorial risk-taking. Between diverse, inclusive runways and a hyper-focus on streetwear (Burberry included, shockingly enough), London Fashion Week was the place to see and be seen.
One such lightning-rod event was, of course, the very Burberry show in question, where a gathering of current and former supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, and Kate Moss invited a frenzy on the front row. You know who would’ve loved this union of star power? Gianni Versace. Incidentally, he was honored at the Versus Versace show, when Donatella Versace announced the winner of a scholarship that was created to keep his incredible legacy alive for generations to come. Out to cheer on the Versus show were influencers like Caroline Vreeland and cool-girl musicians like FKA Twigs.
Another big draw during LFW was the Emporio Armani show, which was resplendent in pastel plaids and cartoon sea life, and drew the likes of Olivia Palermo and Poppy Delevingne to its audience. Meanwhile, Tommy Hilfiger displayed a “rock circus” themed show that featured all of the Hadids, a few Jaggers, and a lot of theatrics.
